What Are Varicose Veins?
Varicose veins are enlarged, twisted veins that most commonly appear in the legs and feet, caused by faulty valves that let blood pool instead of flowing back to the heart. Beyond the visible, rope-like appearance, they can cause aching, heaviness, swelling and — in advanced cases — skin discoloration and venous ulcers.
