What Is Phlebitis?
Phlebitis (superficial thrombophlebitis) is inflammation of a vein located near the surface of the skin, usually caused by a small blood clot inside the vein. It commonly develops in legs affected by varicose veins, leading to localized redness, warmth, and a hard, tender cord-like feeling under the skin.
Common Symptoms
A visible, red, warm, and tender line along a leg vein · Skin over the vein feeling hard or cord-like to the touch · Localized throbbing pain or tenderness in the calf or thigh · Mild swelling around the inflamed leg area
